It is 1960 and Conrad Birdie, the biggest Rock ‘n Roll Star in the country, has just been drafted.  This comes as terrible news to not only his adoring fans, but his manager Albert Peterson who is counting on Conrad to make him rich and save “Almaelou”, his management company.

Rose Alvarez, Albert’s secretary and long suffering girlfriend comes up with an idea to save the company. Write a hit song, pick an adoring fan, Kim MacAfee, and have Conrad sing the song to her on the Ed Sullivan Show!  That will give Conrad a big send off, and Albert and Rosie the royalties to live happily together for a long time.

A few problems arise.….. Conrad’s unpredictable behavior, Albert’s mother, Kim’s boyfriend and the list goes on…

It all works out in the end, but not without a lot of laughs.
